    What should I bring to my first appointment?
    Please bring your current eyeglasses/contacts, a list of medications, previous eye surgery reports, medical records, insurance info, and a valid ID.
    How long does a comprehensive eye exam take?
    A thorough exam typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. This allows for diagnostic tests, potential dilation, and a detailed discussion with your doctor.
    Will my pupils be dilated?
    Often, yes. Dilation allows the doctor to see the retina clearly. Side Effects: Vision will be blurry and light-sensitive for 3–6 hours. We recommend bringing sunglasses and a driver.
    What is the "Air Puff" test?
    Technically called Non-Contact Tonometry, it measures your intraocular fluid pressure. High pressure is a primary risk factor for Glaucoma.
    How often should I have an eye exam?
    Adults (18-60) should go every 2 years if asymptomatic. Seniors (60+) and Diabetics should have a comprehensive exam annually.
  • Is Cataract surgery painful?
    No, the procedure is virtually painless. We use local anesthetic drops to numb the eye. Most patients only feel a slight sensation of pressure.
    What is AI-Enabled Cataract Surgery?
    It uses advanced AI-guided systems to map the eye and perform incisions with robotic precision, leading to better lens positioning and faster healing.
    How do I know if I’m ready for cataract surgery?
    You are ready when clouding interferes with daily activities like driving at night or reading. If your vision is still sufficient for your needs, you may wait.
    Will I still need glasses after cataract surgery?
    This depends on your Intraocular Lens (IOL) choice. Monofocal lenses usually require reading glasses, while Multifocal or EDOF lenses can significantly reduce dependency on glasses.
  • Am I a good candidate for LASIK?
    Candidates should be at least 18, have a stable prescription for one year, and have healthy corneal thickness. We perform a detailed screening to confirm safety.
    Does LASIK surgery hurt?
    No. Before the procedure, we apply numbing drops. You may feel slight pressure for about 30 seconds during the creation of the corneal flap, but no sharp pain.
    How long is the recovery after LASIK?
    Most patients notice a significant improvement within 24 hours. While you can return to work quickly, full vision stabilization typically takes a few weeks.
  • What are DIMS Glasses for Myopia?
    Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) glasses are specialized lenses that provide clear vision while using "peripheral defocus" to signal a child's eye to slow down its growth.
    How does Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) work?
    Ortho-K involves wearing specially designed hard contact lenses only at night. They gently reshape the cornea while you sleep, allowing for clear vision during the day without glasses.
    What is Low-Dose Atropine therapy?
    Low-Dose Atropine involves using medicated eye drops nightly. Clinical studies show these effectively slow myopia progression in children with minimal side effects.
    Can Myopia (Nearsightedness) be cured?
    While it cannot be "cured" (the eyeball cannot be shortened), it can be corrected with glasses or LASIK. We also offer treatments to slow its progression in children.
    Is high Myopia dangerous?
    Yes. High myopia increases the lifetime risk of serious eye conditions, including Retinal Detachment, Glaucoma, and Myopic Macular Degeneration.
    What is the "20-20-20 Rule" for Myopia?
    To reduce strain, for every 20 minutes of near work (screens/reading), look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
  • What is Glaucoma and why is it the "Silent Thief"?
    Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, often caused by high eye pressure. It is called the "silent thief" because vision loss occurs gradually and often without noticeable symptoms until an advanced stage.
    What is MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery)?
    MIGS refers to a group of newer surgical procedures that use microscopic equipment and tiny incisions. They are designed to lower eye pressure with a higher safety profile and faster recovery time than traditional glaucoma surgeries.
    Can I have MIGS done during my Cataract surgery?
    Yes, this is a common approach. Many MIGS procedures are designed to be performed at the same time as cataract surgery, allowing both conditions to be treated in a single session with a single set of incisions.
    Is vision loss from Glaucoma reversible?
    Unfortunately, vision loss from glaucoma is permanent. However, early diagnosis and treatment (medication, laser, or surgery) can effectively slow or stop further vision loss.
  • Why are annual eye exams vital for diabetics?
    Early-stage diabetic retinopathy often has no symptoms. Annual retinal screenings allow us to detect fragile blood vessels or swelling before they cause permanent vision loss.
    How do intravitreal injections help?
    Injections of medications like Ranibizumab or Ozurdex help reduce macular edema (swelling) and stop the growth of abnormal, leaky blood vessels that can cause bleeding inside the eye.
    Is retinal laser therapy painful?
    The procedure is performed in the clinic using numbing drops. While you may see bright flashes of light and feel a slight sensation, it is generally well-tolerated and requires no downtime.
  • Who can donate their eyes?
    Almost anyone can be a donor, regardless of age or blood group. Even those with glasses, previous cataract surgeries, or systemic conditions like diabetes can donate, as only the cornea is typically used.
    Does eye donation disfigure the face?
    No. The procedure is a clean surgical process performed by specialists. It does not cause any disfigurement or interfere with funeral arrangements or an open casket.
    What is the timeframe for donation after death?
    Eyes must be harvested within 4 to 6 hours after death. It is vital to notify the eye bank immediately. Keeping the eyelids closed and the room cool helps preserve the tissue during this window.
    How many people can benefit from one donor?
    One eye donor can restore sight to two corneal-blind individuals. In some cases, other parts of the eye can also be used for research or specialized treatments, helping even more patients.
  • What is the difference between PK and partial transplants?
    PK (Penetrating Keratoplasty) replaces the entire cornea. Modern Partial Thickness transplants (like DALK or DMEK) replace only the damaged layers, leading to faster healing and a significantly lower risk of rejection.
    What is the RSVP rule for rejection?
    If you experience Redness, Sensitivity to light, Vision decrease, or Pain, you must contact us immediately. Most rejections can be successfully reversed with medication if caught early.
    How long is the recovery period?
    Recovery depends on the technique. Full transplants may take up to a year for final visual results, while partial-thickness transplants often allow patients to return to normal activities within a few weeks.
    Will I still need to wear glasses or contacts?
    Most patients will still require a mild glass prescription or a specialized contact lens (like a Scleral lens) after a transplant to achieve their sharpest possible vision.
